Aladdin - Our 2015 Pantomime

Aladdin's Lamp

Our pantomime took place on Friday 28th November at 7.45 and Saturday 29th November with performances at 2.45 and 7.45 in Ashdon Primary School.

The original tale of Aladdin comes from Tales from the Arabian Nights. Our story does not differ too much apart from the omssion of a father and the addition of a brother called Wishee Washee. The brother becomes the lazy one whereas the Aladdin of the old story was idle and uncaring. The order of the genies' appearances has changed and Abanazer, the sorcerer, had a brother who was even more evil than him.

This year's performance had the usual addition of larger than life characters, a plethora of jokes, brilliant scenery with a rich background set in China, and songs that enabled the audience to participate in the singing. Our young people were especially good this year and we had some very competent behind the scenes people. The pantomime horse made his usual appearance in the guise of an elephant! We hope that everyone enjoyed this traditional pantomime.
